How Bifacial solar panels work?

The double-sided panels have the potential to increase the energy output of large solar installations due to their ability to absorb energy from both sides. When the solar panels are mounted on the ground, as is the case in most commercial systems, the sunlight that hits the ground below the panels is reflected up and can be absorbed by the solar cells on the back. In addition, depending on the surface below, more or less light will be reflected back into the double-sided panel. In general, light-colored surfaces (e.g., sand) will reflect more sunlight than darker surfaces (e.g., asphalt or clay).

What is the difference between single-sided and double-sided solar panels?

Compared to conventional panels, which can only be carried out on one side, double-sided panels are able to absorb and convert energy from the sun on both sides, thus increasing the efficiency of power generation. Single-sided panels can have shading on the back, while double-sided panels need to be as free of shading as possible.

Application scenarios for Bifacial solar panels

Bifacial solar panels can be applied to pergolas and some ground mounted systems. They all feature a very small area of shading on both the front and the back. This can effectively increase the efficiency of photovoltaic conversion.
