Battery performance and economics depend heavily on the life cycle of the battery, i.e., how many times the battery can be charged and discharged before it needs to be replaced. Older technologies, such as nickel metal hydride and SLA batteries, can be used for hundreds of cycles, which is beneficial to their cost. LiFePO4 batteries will last for over 1000 cycles.

LiFePO4 is also very resistant to self-discharge. Remember when your NiCad batteries ran out of juice within a month? That's because they self-discharge at a rate of about 1% per day. Lithium iron phosphate has a typical self-discharge rate of 5% per month. In other words, it takes 6 months for a lithium iron phosphate battery to self-discharge to the same level as a conventional battery in 30 days.


LiFePO4 battery will burn and explode?
LiFePO4 batteries do not burn or explode under any circumstances. It is very safe under normal, regulated use. Therefore, there is no need to worry about combustion.

Can LiFePO4 batteries be connected in series?
