Typical Design Scheme for Distributed Commercial and Industrial PV Projects

Distributed commercial and industrial photovoltaic projects are photovoltaic power plants installed on the roofs of medium to large buildings such as industrial plants, shopping malls and stations, which are connected to the grid via three-phase 380V or 10kV, and are highly favored due to high investment returns.

Due to the relative synchronization of photovoltaic power generation and load electricity consumption, the proportion of self-generation and self-use is high, and in the case of relatively high commercial and industrial electricity prices, more optimistic economic benefits can be obtained; in addition, the area of commercial and industrial roofs is relatively large, the installed capacity of photovoltaic power stations can range from several hundred kilowatts to several megawatts, photovoltaic power station income is high, is the new trend of investment.

Today, we focus on the typical design of distributed commercial and industrial photovoltaic power plant projects to discuss.

1.  Commonly used industrial and commercial PV system solutions.

Commercial and industrial power stations are divided into low-voltage (400V) grid-connected and high-voltage (10kV) grid-connected, in principle, low-voltage grid-connected power stations 400kW for a grid-connected point, generally there will be more than one grid-connected point. Medium and high voltage grid-connected are generally set up within 6MW for one grid connection point, and also need to choose a step-up transformer, the transformer power is mostly chosen as 1250/1600/2500kVA and other types, depending on the project capacity and distribution. The access method and grid connection type of commercial and industrial power stations require the power supply company to issue an access opinion, subject to the power supply company's access review for power station grid connection design.

2. The inverter selection scheme for commercial and industrial photovoltaic systems

(1) For low-voltage grid-connected commercial and industrial power plants not larger than 400kW, multiple string inverters can be used in parallel, and the inverters should be as powerful as possible.


(2) For medium voltage grid-connected industrial and commercial power stations not larger than 6MW, there are currently two inverter selection options.




The selection of industrial and commercial PV inverters should take into account the type of grid-connected access voltage, the system capacity ratio design, and try to use the larger single power models, such as 125kW for low-voltage grid-connected systems, 150kW for 1100V medium-voltage grid-connected systems, and 225kW for 1500V medium-voltage grid-connected systems. The system cost optimization and revenue maximization can be achieved through the rational selection of inverters and the design of the system capacity ratio.
