The working principle of an off-grid inverter

An off-grid inverter stores the direct current emitted by the solar energy absorbed by the PV module in a battery or converts it directly into alternating current for use by the load via an inverter. At night, when there is no sunlight, the electricity in the batteries can be converted from direct current to usable alternating current by the inverter for use by the consumer. Typically, off-grid inverters require battery packs to operate. Alternatively, when there is no electricity generated by the solar module and no excess electricity stored under the batteries, the user can choose to have the mains electricity complemented to meet part of the electricity demand.
