Grid synchronization is a fundamental issue when grid-connected photovoltaic inverters are operating in phase. This is because only by synchronization can the PV inverters work in harmony with the grid. The grid synchronization of PV inverters relies on the precise detection of the phase frequency information of the grid voltage by grid synchronization technology, because the phase angle information of the grid voltage is essential to transform the grid variables from a three-phase a, b, c stationary coordinate system to a two-phase d-q synchronous rotating coordinate system. In the synchronous rotating coordinate system, the output AC current to the grid can be regulated in the same way as the DC variables, enabling the exchange of active and reactive power with the grid. This shows that grid synchronization is one of the key technologies for grid-connected photovoltaic power generation and that its performance directly affects the control performance of the grid-connected inverter.

Reasons for choosing a three-phase grid-connected inverter

From a usage point of view, three-phase electricity has a higher voltage and can drive high power appliances, for example, three-phase electricity can drive squirrel cage induction motors, which are simple in structure, easy to maintain and manufacture, durable and have important uses in industry, so industrial electricity is generally three-phase. Secondly, with three-phase power there are more voltage options, as three-phase power can be connected to single-phase power, while single-phase power cannot be connected to three-phase power.

From a safety point of view, three-phase electricity can provide a better voltage level, relatively safer, assuming that the voltage is 380V if it is single-phase is a line is 380V, a line is 0V, but if it is three-phase, both lines are 220V, the voltage level is reduced, there are advantages in insulation, wire diameter and a series of other safety issues.
